A strange quirk of Zanzibar paradise is that the residents have always been amused that all the huge amount of rubbish they chuck in the sea magically dissapears and that there must be a giant garbage eating monster somewhere deep in the ocean nearby because none ever washes up onto their idyllic beaches.
\nWe travelled down 100km.of dirt track through medieval villages dirt poor and dirt dirty to arrive at Pagani to get the ferry across the Pagani river. A strange post colonial wreck of a town with a certain charm, its possible to get a ferry from here to Zanzibar, we didnt fancy the 2 hours of rowing so opted for the short ferry to the other side.

Then a lovelly drive along the a costal track for 40 miles to Barrys beach resort Milly reckoned I had it wrong, the track got narrower and narrower but a sign gave comfort and out of the dense sea woodland opened a paradise lodge right on the shoreline.

The camping had its own little shelters, Later some Germans arrived that we hsd met 3 weeks earlier in Uganda! .

Now the small amount of people who live on this 200km beach of paradise happen to believe that deep in the sea is a huge monster that pukes out garbage.
\n\"Garbage<\/a><\/p>\n

Barry the Canadian who owns this little immaculate paradise knows where it comes from and pays locals to clean it up, but its not a task with an end in sight and he and the locals are mad as hell about it.<\/p><\/div>\n
